Wow! Thanks for going through all these hoops. Basically I just wanted to confirm that the installer resize weirdness was confirmed when using the mouse. If I understand you your installation screen is not outsized. The OS itself is pretty run of the mill except for the possibility that VMware Tools "might" compile without the errors found in Debian itself.
I'm assuming that after the install the mouse works as usual? Didi you happen to get a chance to install the Tools. Your time is limited of course. In any event your answer is definitely marked as correct.
